Clay Harris salvages seventh-place finish at Waycross with Southern Clash

Saturday night saw Clay Harris return to action at Waycross Motor Speedway (Waycross, Ga.) competing in two different divisions for the Davy Woodard Memorial. In a field of 16 cars, Harris posted the eighth fastest lap in Southern Clash time trials, which positioned him on the fourth row for the $2,589-to-win A-Main. After getting shuffled outside the Top-10 following a late-race restart, Clay clawed forward in the remaining distance to cross the line in seventh.

In the 602 Late Model ranks, Clay managed to record the sixth fastest lap in qualifying while fighting issues with his steering. Finding out the steering rack went bad with too little time to replace the part, Harris was a scratch from the 20-lap feature.
