Clay Harris enjoys two-win weekend in Late Model at North Florida; Mother Nature takes finale

Friday night found Clay Harris in action at North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Fla.) pulling double duty in the 602 Late Model and Modified ranks for the UMP Winternationals. Following the fourth fastest lap in his Modified group, Harris secured his spot into the opening night feature with a fourth place finish in his heat. With $1,000 on the line, Clay clawed forward one spot in the 25-lap affair to register a third-place finish behind Jason Garver and Lucas Lee with Jason Hughes and Tyler Nicely rounding out the Top-5.

In his 602 Late Model, Clay cruised to a heat race win, which positioned him third on the starting gird for the A-Main. Executing a last-lap pass for the victory, Harris soared to his second triumph of the season.

On Saturday afternoon in a field of 24 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Clay timed in seventh fastest overall in qualifying before placing second in his heat behind Allen Weisser. Starting the $1,200-to-win A-Main in fifth, Harris jumped up two spots in the 25-lapper to finish third, trailing Allen Weisser and Lucas Lee across the line with Drake Troutman and Brad DeYoung completing the Top-5 finishers.

Starting the night off with a heat race victory in his Late Model on Saturday, Harris locked into the second-starting position for the A-Main. Jumping into the lead on the drop of the green flag, Clay led wire-to-wire to secure his second win in as many nights and third of the season. Taking the checkers ahead of Kyle Bridges and Brian Saunders, Harris pocketed $1,200.

Sunday night's finale fell victim to Mother Nature.
