Clay Harris opens 2023 season at Sunshine Nationals
Clay Harris began his 2023 season at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) for the Crate Racin' USA portion of the Sunshine Nationals.
With racing action starting on Thursday, Harris started his 20-lap preliminary feature from the third row after a sixth-place qualifying effort. Clay gained one position in the $1,500-to-win feature and finished runner-up behind winner Rye Faulk.
For Friday's $1,500-to-win feature, Clay recorded a 19th-fastest qualifying attempt, which pushed him back to a 10th-place starting position. Harris made up four spots in the 20-lap main event to finish one spot short of a Top-5 in sixth.
Saturday's finale at Volusia Speedway Park was cancelled due to rain.
