Clay Harris eighth in penultimate Winternationals event at East Bay Raceway Park

Following a strong week with the series, Clay Harris followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) on Tuesday afternoon after Monday's event was postponed due to rain.

With 75 Late Models in attendance for the final East Bay Winternationals, Harris narrowly missed an A-Main transfer spot in his heat and came up just one spot short in his B-Main.

Making the show on Wednesday evening, Clay started the 40-lap feature just outside the Top-10 but faded to 17th.

For the first five-figure payday on Thursday, Harris outdueled Blair Nordrift for the heat race victory which landed him on the second-row for the feature. Clay ran inside the Top-10 for most of the 40-lap race but fell to 11th when the checkered flag flew.

With Monday's make-up event spanning multiple days, Clay faded back in Wednesday's heat race and was unable to get to transfer spot in his last chance race.

Sneaking into Friday's A-Main with the last transfer position in his heat, Harris recorded a week-high outing as he landed inside the Top-10 in eighth.

In the finale for the East Bay Winternationals, Clay struggled with mechanical issues all evening and was unable to make the A-Main field for the $15,000-to-win main event.
